A vintage movie poster of ''The Shoes of the Fisherman'', a 1968 American film directed by Michael Anderson and based on the novel of the same name by Morris L. West. This drama film is known for its thought-provoking themes, stellar ensemble cast, and its exploration of the challenges and moral dilemmas faced by a newly elected Pope.
The film's central character is Kiril Lakota, portrayed by Anthony Quinn. Kiril is a Ukrainian archbishop who has spent years in a Siberian labor camp due to his religious beliefs. However, he is unexpectedly released and makes his way to Rome, where he is ordained as a priest and ultimately elected as Pope. Taking the name Pope Kiril I, he becomes the first Eastern Orthodox pope in history.
